Staff may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties. # Clinical Practice Knowledge Demonstrates awareness of research findings applicable to area of practice; critically analyzes studies to justify and/or modify standards for professional practice. Models high standard of nursing practice and professional accountability. Understands and integrates Information Technology in patient care and delivery systems. Communicate Effectively Translates vision and strategy into concrete work activities. Translate and communicates service standards and expectations to staff in understandable language and actions. Acts as a liaison to accurately represent the concerns, ideas, and views of both staff and upper management to ensure decisions are aligned with organizational goals. Conveys information to frontline staff that ensures understanding of the rationale for decisions and how they impact their work. Financial Management Creates and effectively manages human and material resources within budgetary limits. Conducts ongoing evaluation of productivity and adjusts as necessary. Maximizes care efficiency and throughput. Anticipates the effects of change on reimbursement programs for patient care. Implements/manages change based on a working knowledge of the relationship between value-based purchasing, quality outcomes and revenue/reimbursement # Human Resource Management Supervises staff, assuring performance is in accordance with departmental/organizational policies and regulatory compliance. Initiates and/or makes recommendations, in collaboration with department director, for personnel action (hiring, transferring, advancement, corrective action). Develops, oversees, and evaluates effectiveness of orientation, ongoing competency and learning needs of staff. Oversees staffing/scheduling, providing for unit needs necessary to support delivery of quality patient care. Promotes staff engagement through the implementation of healthy work environment standards. Supports the Shared Governance structure by encouraging staff participation in councils. Provide on-going feedback, information, support, and resources to continually develop employees. Engage staff by being available and providing opportunities to take on new challenges and develop critical skills that increase performance capability. Regularly thank, recognize, celebrate, and reward people.# Collaborate with others (peers, physicians, etc.) to develop strong working relationships and foster teams that build trust and achieve goals. Manage conflicts effectively by identifying and addressing causes, mediating conflicts # Manage conflicts effectively by identifying and addressing causes, mediating conflicts among team members, and reaching mutually agreed-upon outcomes. Be present with staff; regularly reach out to better understand their needs, responsibilities, and challenges. Help them achieve desired results. Performance Improvement Identifies key performance indicators, develops action plans and engages staff in activities which promote improvements in systems/processes (patient satisfaction, quality metrics, core measures). Conducts customer service visits with patients/families identifying opportunities for improvement; recommends action plans based on trended reports. Demonstrates and empowers staff to perform effective service recovery. Proactively identifies and champions patient safety initiatives for area(s) of responsibility. Maintains survey and regulatory readiness. Monitors and promotes workplace safety requirements. Serves as change agent for hospital and unit initiatives. In collaboration with Director, establishes unit goals aligned with organization and nursing strategic plans. Compliance Adheres to all organizational policies, procedures, regulatory and statutory rules, acting promptly on all potential discrepancies. Takes effective corrective action and/or informs appropriate individuals that a compliance breach has occurred. Personal and Professional Accountability Maintains competency in technology required for position (review of quality/risk data, trend analysis, forecasting). Participates in ongoing educational activities related to practice area and professional issues. Seeks opportunities to mentor, coach, and promote the professional development of staff. Influences others through leadership behaviors consistent with unit/nursing/hospital vision and mission. Education/Licensure/Certifications/Qualifications:

  • Current licensure in the state of Maine as a Registered Nurse or Compact licensure. Must be in good standing with the Board of Nursing
  • BSN required

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • BLS required
  • ONS Chemotherapy Biotherapy Certification
  • OCN Certification preferred
  • 3-5 years RN work; charge or equivalent for at least 1 year required
  • 5 years RN experience in an Oncology department setting; previous clinical coordinator role or equivalent preferred
