We expect each student employee to offer their services wherever and whenever necessary to ensure the success of our endeavors.

Assist Marketing & Communications staff while they photograph and video events. The assistant's primary responsibility will be collecting names and details of subjects captured in photos or videos while at events and then entering that information into the university's digital asset management system. There may also be opportunities to take event photos as a secondary duty.

The photography assistant will be expected to attend events, communicate with subjects to gather contact information, verify subject details in the university database, upload and tag assets, and write captions as they contribute to an established university digital asset management system. Hours are based on student events.

The photography assistant position allows students to develop data management, communication, asset management, time management, teamwork, and photography skills. As well as gain practical experience in organizing and handling data within a digital asset management system, honing their interpersonal and communication abilities by engaging with subjects and verifying information. Furthermore, they will also cultivate time management skills as they balance their academic commitments with work responsibilities. Collaborating with a team and potentially capturing event photos further enriches their skill set, making this position a well-rounded educational opportunity. All photos produced while being paid by Pacific are the property of Pacific University, but students may use those photos as part of their professional and personal portfolios.

Qualifications

Must be dependable, comfortable talking with many people, detail-oriented, and able to work under deadlines. Must be familiar with a Mac platform and be comfortable learning new software platforms and handling confidential information. This person should be organized, interested in photography and in capturing the stories of the Pacific University community.

Preferred Qualifications

Be flexible and willing to take on tasks with a positive attitude. Lightroom and Photoshop knowledge helpful.
