What do you like about working at Idaho State University?

"I enjoyed working with the students, many of whom were carrying full time employment and still working to better themselves. Many of my co-workers are also top notch. The area is pleasant and the University grounds are moderately attractive."

"Proceed with caution and read all of the articles you can find about this university that are available online - including articles about Dr. Habib Sadid's termination, and the reasons why this University has been sanctioned by the AAUP. Also read about the past histories of the President and the CFO. Decide if these are people you think you can work for and trust your future to."

What don't you like about working at Idaho State University?

"The president of the university, with the backing of the state board of education, has gutted the faculty governance structure, eliminated two faculty senates who would not rubber stamp their plans for reorganization of the university and other major changes, and retaliated against others who called for more transparency or disagreed with the reorg. The morale here is terribly low, and gets lower every year. People are either being laid off or leaving as soon as they can. State budget cuts and the culture of anti-education here sure don't help."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Leave. Or, failing that, at least begin to produce third-party verified business cases for all of the huge changes you are making to the structure and functioning of this university and the multi-million dollar building purchases you have made which are causing hundreds of thousands of dollars of budget deficits and pulling funds from academic programs and colleges in order to balance out."

"very friendly, works with class schedule, more experience and group work."

"try to keep the schedule to work with their final exams,"

"minimum wage with work study working and prepare for finals week at the same time."

"keep up the good work. Day off on finals week for students."

"the place I'm working is so great place to develop me programming knowledge and also the people I'm working with are so good!!!"

"Well, right now I'm working as a research assistant and my job is not a permanent job."

"Well, apparently I don't have anything to say them to improve. I would say make us more busy. May be give me more than one project at the same time."

"It required a minimum amount of training due to my experience with computers."

"You only need a basic understanding of computers and networking to work at the IT Service Desk"

"Low wage, Low hours, no benefits. And I don't get to write code"

"I don't believe that bureaucracy is an effective way to manage people in every situation"

"The community of learning is amazing. My professors are excellent mentors and wonderful examples of what effective educational examples should be."

"Do your research on the University culture and the department's history and offerings. Be open and honest. Smile."

What don't you like about working at Idaho State University?

"My job ends when I graduate. There is an extreme amount of public discord between the faculty and the administration which leads to a tense work atmosphere at times."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"The administration and faculty members should take advantage of some of the leadership and change management classes that the university offers."
