What do you like about working at IBM?
I've enjoyed the professional resources and encouragement I've received to learn everything I can about the subjects falling under my duty. IBM encourages employees to expand to the height of the personal and professional potential and the respect this company has earned in the industry is often reflected by response and attention I've always received when giving presentations to clients.
What don't you like about working at IBM?
My current position is unable to meet my need for a long term position which lasts longer than 6 months at a time. This is despite my supervisor's desire to hire me permanently. I will truly miss my colleagues as I seek a more stable opportunity elsewhere.
What suggestions do you have for management?
My management team is made up of top-notch individuals and I encourage them to continue the level of encouragement and team building which I have had the pleasure to experience while employed here.

IBM is a great place to work but rigid HR policies prevent a smooth transition from temporary to permanent positions.
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
Always seek to learn new skills and expertise, seeking to be the best in any field for which you've applied. Also be ready to demonstrate that you are a well rounded individual and involve yourself in company events which help expand your professional network. If you show these qualities to a hiring manager, you will most assuredly be considered for the position.

What do you like about working at IBM?
Depending on your job role, I like the flexibility to work from home.
What don't you like about working at IBM?
I don't like the fact that it is hard to switch jobs. Once you get in a position, management wants you to stay there and makes it so political if you speak up and show interest in wanting to do something else. This makes you feel like employee happiness / satisfaction is not important. However, if you allow a person to work in a role in which they are happy, they will be more productive and won't quit like I did.
What suggestions do you have for management?
I suggest that management listen to their employees and help them seek out other opportunities if they express the desire to move on.

The truth about wanting to change job roles (too political!)
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
Make sure you get the EXACT job that you want before accepting the job, because once you get in there, they are going to pin you to that job unless you threaten to leave. Moving around to different roles to advance your skills is going to be a chore so be ready to work.

What do you like about working at IBM?
It's a job.
What don't you like about working at IBM?
The skill you learned there is not used anywhere else. Which means you will not be marketable if you are chopped.
What suggestions do you have for management?
When all engineering jobs are shipped overseas, our job situation will be like Hawaii, lots of labor, but no money. It may seem good for the employer at first, but a country of all low skill labor is not what America wants to be. You can't have high skill labor if all high paying jobs are shipped overseas.

My two cents.

If you look around and everyone working around you is in his/her 20s, you have to wonder what will happen to you when grow older.

I loved working for IBM. My career with them was phenomenal.
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
Your opportunities for advancement are only restricted by yourself. Take any offer and you will be rewarded by hard work, dedication and knowledge.

What do you like about working at IBM?
The work culture of the company makes me feel free and work independently. This makes me deliver the most of me.
What don't you like about working at IBM?
Some times the projects are not according to the skills, which is sometimes embarrassing.
What suggestions do you have for management?
The management should check for the correct projects for the resources to reduce such situations.
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
You should have good communication skills to face the clients and also good technology to grow up in the industry.

What do you like about working at IBM?
I liked the camaraderie and family-feel within the organization.  I liked the ability to work on multiple projects and collaborate with other organizations.
What don't you like about working at IBM?
When I was there, there was not much room to grow or expand at the time.
What suggestions do you have for management?
There is not much that I can really suggest but, in general, I would say to look out more for the people at the bottom.

It was a great experience.
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
The main thing is to be relaxed and to be confident in what you've done.

What do you like about working at IBM?
Great people, okay benefits
What don't you like about working at IBM?
The people at IBM were great, but if you were not working 12 hours a day 6 days a week, you were not doing your job. I would not mind that kind of schedule in a small company when all the extra time is needed, but a large company, it just does not seem necessary and it over stresses everyone.
What suggestions do you have for management?
Get managers who feel that Software is not a tool, and it is the wave of the future.

IBM is an old company, who does not appreciate new age software, they are very stuck in the rut

What don't you like about working at IBM?
It was a good place overall
What suggestions do you have for management?
none at this time

IBM is a good company, however, like everywhere else, competitive forces are forcing cost cutting / sometimes unreasonably high accountability practices
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
This might be a good 2nd, 3rd, or greater company for a person to work at... might be hard for a fresh college graduate to be fully nuanced in the intricacies of established corporate culture like IBM

What do you like about working at IBM?
They pay me. That's about the only reason to stay.
What don't you like about working at IBM?
Trying to increase price per share by reducing expenses, and the biggest expense is the employees, so there's constant layoffs. There's very little money spent to keep a quality product in development
What suggestions do you have for management?
You're not a software company. Stop acquiring new software companies, and give the existing software engineers the resources they need to get the job done.
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
If you like bureaucracy and a one-size-fits-all enviornment, go for it.

What do you like about working at IBM?
It was better than being unemployed. Got to make a lot of friends.
What don't you like about working at IBM?
You have to work 80+ hours/week to "get ahead". It is a very un-collaborative work environment and overly competitive. The work/life balance exists only to allow you to work more unpaid overtime.
What suggestions do you have for management?
Get a job at a new company.

Great if you like being a slave
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
Good place to brush up your interviewing skills. If you must accept the job, insist on higher starting pay, as you're unlikely to see any increases.
