What I like most is how the environment in which we work in is very fast paced and both management skill and merchandising skills are placed to the max.

What I dont like is that most of the time the environment is very negative. From stressed associates because they are helping up to 10 customers at a time while trying to maintain their departments and answer to multiple calls during the day. Most of our customer are angry prior to entering the store because something in their home is broken. Even though I have been able to maintain moral it is very exhausting and the I've seen it affecting my family and to me family comes first.

Most managers take their position the wrong way, my main suggestion is that they must learn how to be a good example to their associates. Many managers delegate and disappear for hours, the managers that get results delegate and work on other things themselves making them approachable and leading by example. Now of course they are responsible for other duties such as operations so of obviously they cant be involved in big projects the entire time. Yet they must remember that their associates deal with a great deal of job loads and pressure both physically and mentally, so some need to be a little bit more considerate.

The core values that creates value for the associates and customers such as excellent customer service.

The lack of upward mobility. It can take a while to find an opening.

Use positive reinforcement to motivate associates. They will be more willing to do their job.

Fast pace competitive environment that demands excellent customer service.

Customer service is number one priority in the company. You must project this in the interview process.

The people that I worked with day to day and that I supervised.

Management doesnt respect you, your hard work is not valued and you put in a lot more than you get in return.

Treat the people who work for you with the same respect you feel that you deserve

Be sure you get something from them also. They have no problem not working with you.

Freedom of merchadising. We where allowed to be creative in our merchadising and reconied for it.

Scheduling. To many times I had to work till midnight the back to work at 6am.

Reduce the useless paper work. To increase sales floor time, for associate training and customer service.

A good place to work

Lack of knowledge and availability of upper management

Educate yourself on your position, make yourself available to lower management instead of sitting in offices when you decided to come to work
