"I worked for 8 years for this company. It's really disgusting how they treat people and they do not hire from within as they tell you, nothing ever gets done. I have seen how they treat people that is why they cannot keep anyone"

"I worked here for several years climbing from a cook to executive chef. Over time upper management seemed to become more disorganized and pushing towards systems that took away freedom from individual accounts. There was barely any training and I felt uncomfortable asking for help."

"Encouraged food service employees to come into work sick – lower management had to offload decisions onto employees themselves due to overwork and stress, and often their role was to substitute in for prep staff at different locations. Sharing perks with non-contract employees was nice, and the pay was not bad, but we were clearly disposable."

"Guckenheimer is a great company and getting better every year. Currently they are growing at a rapid pace so while they have been around a long while their work pace is similar to working for a start-up."

What don't you like about working at Guckenheimer?

"I was hired as a Food Service Manager but because of economic downsizing, I became a Chef Manager. I applied for a position in the East Bay where I live, however I was placed in Vacaville about an hour away from my home in the East Bay."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"The company made such a quick decision on placing me in Vacaville without my full consent or really discussing it with me. I was not given the opportunity to negotiate for compensation for my 2-hour drive, gas, bridge toll, wear and tear on my car. I am a bit resentful about this situation, but I am trying to focus on the positive aspects of my job and the company as a whole."
