What do you like about working at Groupon?
The culture is great, young people, great money, great opportunity for growth.
What don't you like about working at Groupon?
The micromanagement is getting to a point where it is ridiculous. Many of us joined the company in the early stages to have more autonomy, but now everything is so suppressed that it is making the employees less efficient. Also, the micromanaged requirements change based on how the company is performing on every particular day/week.
What suggestions do you have for management?
It's hard to say, the dynamic and extraordinary growth has put the company in a tough position. The current situations that we are dealing with as employees are necessary for the company to survive. If I could have done anything about it, I would not have let the company grow as quickly as it did and also go through the IPO as quickly as we did.
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
Hard work definitely gets noticed, it's just that when you move territories, it's mostly a lateral move. The potential to make more money is there, but it takes time every time you move positions. Most people want management opportunities, but only a select few are chosen internally, but mostly they are hired from the outside, which is a BIG confidence bust.
