"I have worked for General Motors for nearly 4 years, I was satisfied with my job for about a year, then started requesting transfers but have been denied since. I originally enjoyed the learning of the job, then my job grew to be the Spackle of the group that filled all the gaps everyone else left, because of that my manager has had a hard time letting me move to another position."

The environment work is multicultural, which gives a great opportunity to know other cultures and travel. "Look up the STAR interview process, and be ready for an intense interview (friendly, but intense)."

What don't you like about working at General Motors?

"Sometimes General Motors trips over its own feet due to the size of the company. Streamlining this company is key, and they are making progress."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Local management: keep doing what you are doing, because it is a great place to work. Executive management: be honest with me, tell me the direction of the organization and health of the functional team. I need to understand the bigger picture and how I fit into it."

"Go back to the basic corporate model of the 80-90 business style."
