Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Really ask yourself if this line of work is for you. I know times are hard and not many people are hiring, but if it's at all possible to find something else you might like better or stick with longer because of actual opportunities for advancement, please keep looking."

What don't you like about working at EchoStar?

"My time at EchoStar was not a pleasant experience. From the beginning I felt like I was intentionally misled about the opportunities to excel and to make more money. At the time I was there, everyone who made it out of training class was forced to work in the Winback department, where we had to spend all day, every day, trying to win back customers who had decided to cancel their services. It made for a long, depressing workday full of argumentative confrontations and failures. We were actually instructed not to inform customers who cancelled their service that they might have a refund due! We were given no choice; we had to work in Winback. I felt resentful for being misled about how much money I could make there, and for being forced into a department I wasn't comfortable working in. When I finally did find a better paying job elsewhere, as I was finalizing my paperwork several EchoStar supervisors who I didn't even know ridiculed me and implied that I couldn't make it at a different job. I guess this was their way of trying to convince me to stay. They didn't win me back!"

What suggestions do you have for management?

"They should read this review, and ask the same questions of other ex-employees. If you really want to provide good customer service, which would ultimately increase your business, it seems like you would want customer service representatives who like what they do instead of being there because they were forced into convincing disgruntled customers not to cancel their service. It's way too much pressure for way too little money. A good customer service staff wouldn't have such a huge turnover. That seems pretty basic to me. Management should ultimately put the customer's needs first by examining exactly why they have such a big turnover in their customer service call centers. Solving this problem could only be better for business."

Senior Recruiting Manager

"I traveled non-stop to open new locations. Travel was up to 80%."

What do you like about working at EchoStar?

"The industry for telecommunications was great and the people I met in recruiting and in the community were fantastic!"

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Interviewing is a long process. Patience is important."

What don't you like about working at EchoStar?

"The travel."
