Consolidated Freightways Overview

Consolidated Freightways was a Portland, Oregon, based trucking company that was founded in 1921 by Leland James. Consolidated opened a manufacturing division ten years after its inception but later sold it to Daimler AG. The company was highly successful from its beginnings and expanded over the decades into one of the largest transportation companies in the nation. The company has annual revenue of $5.6 billion.

The company ceased operation under the Consolidated name in 2002 and rebranded itself as Con-Way. Company headquarters were moved to Michigan shortly the change. A wide variety of service are offered by Con-Way including logistics, supply chain management, and multimodal operations. The company has nearly 500 operations throughout the U.S and Asia and Europe.
