"I have worked at Coned for 2+ years. I liked the diverse team, the location, the perks typical of big utility companies. Smaller companies offer broader experience and need to innovate more to remain competitive."
"I've worked for Con Edison since 1985. I'm Third generation Con Edison employee. Con Edison has been the best company I've worked for all these years and the training has been the best."
"Con Edison was a company I had desire working for since I started my education in College. My department was in the IT department. I figured with my degree in computer engineering that I would be able to move up, but I got stuck. The hiring manager retired unexpectedly after 3 weeks and almost all of the work fell on me. I am always up for a challenge, but I was not set up for success. I had one resource and that was a co-worker who has been here for 27 years. I was determined to not give up. I traveled to locations, I participated in meetings, I did all I could. I was getting paid 74K a year for the work of my manager who was getting paid 98K a year. I want to be clear, I love challenges. However, I love teamwork better. I love to be able to assist each other and set each other up for success. I wasn't granted that wish. There was no room to grow because of BCO (Business Cost Optimization). I wish the Con Ed family was more like the Apple family."
"Work and workers are great"
"Con Ed is a great place to work. They have great opportunities for employees to move around within the company and explore different positions. In addition, they have awesome benefits at all levels. This company is unique in their learning culture. Almost everyone is willing to help each other and it makes everyone successful!"
"The company is very big. This means that if you do not like your role, you can transition into another role that suits your talents. There are also a lot of programs that can help employees such as Corporate Mentoring programs."
"I am with ConEdison since December 2014. It's a great company to work for, but not a lot of opportunity to grow up in the company"
"Will provide additional information."
"Coned was an excellent place to work with very nice compensation for your work. They will work with you to try and achieve a good work life balance as well as train every employee to their desired skill set. Opportunity for advancement is also why I rank Coned so high. There is many internal postings that are almost always promotions. The company works like a city with its own medical facility, transportation facility as well as loading and unloading facilities. If I were to move back to New York from California Coned would be the first place that i go back to. It offers such a wide variety of positions from mechanics, to electrical, to plant supervisors, to managers and even medical employees."
"I worked for Consolidated Edison for over 20 years and would recommend this company to anybody looking to work in a field that uses the top of the line technologies from construction equipment to computer based programs for cyber security all the way to proceremnt of goods. An extremely diverse company with the top in their field workers."
"I have been working in con Edison for last 10 months. I have attained good knowledge regarding substation related civil structures. I have also worked on projects related to the gas support section."
