Texas Instruments Review by Post Officer in Stafford, TX on

What do you like about working at Texas Instruments?

I like my Texas Instruments shift supervisor, she is knowledgeable and understanding. She teaches and disciplines everyone on the same scale, there are no favorites. I have stayed this long because she is awesome, other factors are the cause for my job search. She understands what Securitas management is doing to their personnel.

What don't you like about working at Texas Instruments?

We are micro-managed, every officer has four people managing them and we are a department of 11. Policies are being implemented to create unfavorable information files on the personnel. Petty issues are I am tired of working 12 hour night shifts and the uniform is despicable.

What suggestions do you have for management?

Managment need to listen to their people, the job that we do in the Security Control center is not easy. Management needs to give credit to the work we do, we only get criticized.

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

Make sure you understand the security is 24/7/365, each post is different because I actually monitor and report chemical alarms. Unless you are schedule off you will work on holidays, there are no benefits and insurance comes with the post if they are willing to pay. Ask questions if you have any doubts.

"Texas Instruments a good review"

Texas Instruments Review by Distinguished Member Technical Staff Failure Analysis in Stafford, TX on

3.80

What do you like about working at Texas Instruments?

I was in process engineering and failure analysis. While at Texas Instruments they gave me more tools to work with than any other company offered. I was always surrounded by state of the art tools, techniques and high quality people.

What don't you like about working at Texas Instruments?

The management is forever laying off personnel. They hire then lay off. If it was not for the super advanced tools I worked with I would not have stayed with the company. My direct manager for 12 years was great.

What suggestions do you have for management?

Promote qualified persons based upon skills and not friendship. Stop the layoff cycle. There is plenty of offshore locations that don't do this and have much better luck. Don Brooks of TI MOS Memory in 1978 proved lay offs were destructive. Yet TI did it any way.

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

They like people who are aggressive and think on their feet. Once you get in look for positions were you are in the critical path. There they can lay you off.

95% of management there are flat out liars. Their DMOS6 fab has the scum of the earth running the place. If you find yourself talking to a Randy German or Jeff Nichols put your guard up. 03.16.12

Texas Instruments Review by Texas Instruments Employee in Dallas, TX on

1.20

What do you like about working at Texas Instruments?

I got very disappointed with this company, so I can say I didn't like to work for ti.

What don't you like about working at Texas Instruments?

Never had opportunities to technical grow, managmet betrayed a lot of people this year laying-off thousands of employees, and they did a lot of stupid mistakes losing a lot of money and then big layoff. Some honorable big stupid mistakes: they lied about RFAB and throw away a lot of money on Nascar DSP... I'm happy to don't be there anymore.

What suggestions do you have for management?

No comments. They betrayed me.

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

Don't lose your time trying to get a job with a company like this one, that just only use your talent meanwhile they want -generally 7 to 10 years-. On the other hand, it is very hard -sometimes imposible- to technical growht and managers behave like "big arrogant masters" with any care for their "slave" employees.

"Fair for techs & operators, but good for engineers."

Texas Instruments Review by Mfg Equipment Engeering Technician in Dallas, TX on

3.30

What do you like about working at Texas Instruments?

Not much micro-management, let you do your work

What don't you like about working at Texas Instruments?

DMOS 6 Tech's & Operators in Mfg'ing seem to be treated like a number (necessary evil) by management and engineers. Don't dare make an improvement recommendation that the managers or engineers haven't thought of, just keep your ideas to your own little area.

What suggestions do you have for management?

Listen to the techs & op's when they have good, valid suggestions. If moving a tech from one section to another, don't just inform them via email. Meet in person to explain reason and expectations.

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

A team player for DMOS 6 is someone who goes along with their ideas and does not question them. Want to be in the doghouse, bring up a flaw that they might not have considered.

TI has a long standing method of controlling and suppressing wages. They love to hire the unknowing, energetic youngsters with student loans fresh off the turnip truck for peanut pay for what they are required to learn and do. After a few years of fighting a loosing battle with your pay (and most everything else really), the average equipment engineer (who does most of the fab work by the way getting Applied Materials junk and others sorry equipment to actually work), will usually get into a confrontation sooner or later with a sorry TI brown-nosing manager and quit or be fired. TI could care less, they just call up Adecco, or NStar Global Services, or ManPower, or some other sorry thief Republican employment thief agency and tell them to send another chump over to get the hard physical/ mental work done, while the big talkers in control of the job and the BS talk continue to sit on their asses doing nothing, except running their pie holes. The experienced guys in this field have all been ousted by the young smart ass managers they hire right out of school. They always pay a few key people decent money and lay the people responsibility on these guys, everyone else is a chump slave working for peanuts. So if you have big plans to waste your life becoming a semiconductor equipment engineer, your in for a life of misery. You'd be better off becoming a ditch digger. At TI and Applied Materials and all these semiconductor equipment dependent companies, they MUST HAVE ENERGETIC MEN CHUMPS TO DO ALL THE HARD WORK OR THEY WILL STARVE and the world will be semiconductor-less. These companies are raking in record profits right now also by the billions, so there is no reason to suppress the wages, but it is how they have always operated, and their stock still sucks when it comes to making money owning it, and it's very volatile to the minus. They also love to make sure a person with a 2 year degree is always treated like a turd. If you only have a 2 year degree you are a technician, and to TI you will always be a technician. Even if you have to teach all the 4 degree masters that just got off the turnip truck everything you learned after your time doing all the hard work with your head stuck up under the machines for years. Then these 4 year degree master minds will steal everything you teach them, and run around to the upper level managers acting like they are the brains of the operation. This Republican company has gotten away with murder for years because they have never allowed a union to be formed, so the workers have NO RIGHTS inside the walls of that Republican dictatorship. They are experts at making the public think they are so great, like donating worn out equipment they no longer want to the universities (so they can benefit from the tax write off probably more than they paid), they give the pay they stole form the workers to charity and all kinds of other sneaky things to make the public think they are angels. In reality the company is an out of control monster. Before they sold the defense systems group to Raytheon, they use to play all kinds of political games to get those giant mega million dollar contracts to build all kinds of killing machines. Dick Cheney was always around in the old days, so that should be enough said about the crookedness of this company. They are a bunch of thieves who have stolen billions of bucks from the American people, from the workers to every tax paying American citizen. They have about 20 or so wafer fabs around the world, so they can shift work and play big time labor rate games to around the world as needed on the fly. They also have their own satellite communications worldwide. This also gives them a lot of power with many different countries. The mega rich out of control GOP Republican Thieves are Texas Instruments. When you read about the Bilderbergs, Freemasons, and Yale’s Skull & Bones, just think of Texas Instruments. These smart asses think everyone is so stupid, when in reality they will see who is stupid when they get to that eternal crossroad evaluation that I’m sure these people do not really believe in. For those of you that decide to go through the security turn-style TI doors, watch your back and be prepared for a lot of BS for very little in return, same as the Republican party has done to the whole country. They build it up for a while, then they tear it back down. They can not have the majority of the population getting too rich. They need a lot of slaves for their master new world order plan. For those of you who do understand that the GOP REPUBLICANS consists mainly of BANKS, INSURANCE COMPANIES, and OIL COMPANIES, and DEFENSE COMPANIES, and all the little lawyers and doctors and TITLE Companies that get their business from them, GOOD LUCK! 03.11.11

What do you like about working at Texas Instruments?

It is a good place if one would like to work harder & smart for long time.

What don't you like about working at Texas Instruments?

Heavy Turn Over of employees. Hire & Laid Off is more like a Roller Coaster. One needs to be closer to Higher Management to remain employed.

"Texas Instruments was really an excellent company to work for."

Texas Instruments Review by Software Engineer in Dallas, TX on

4.00

What do you like about working at Texas Instruments?

A lot of varied challenges. My manager allowed flexibility with balancing work/family which was definitely a win/win for both TI and my family.

What don't you like about working at Texas Instruments?

Middle management revolves so much that they lose sight of the individuals that make success happen.

What suggestions do you have for management?

Avoid so much management rotation so that the managers can know the people better -- this would tend toward win/win decisions for the company and employees versus the current win/lose or win/don'tcare at best...
