What do you like about working at JPMorgan Chase?

we get free sodas (when the machine works) and free coffee (albeit horrible and cheap coffee) diversity in hiring practices covered parking helps in the summer there is a ton of "potential" for growth and prosperity for everyone

What don't you like about working at JPMorgan Chase?

there is no real drive towards good service. computer systems are unreliable and dated. the systems that do get updated are made incredibly complicated/labor intensive instead of becoming easier to use no real attempts to make employees part of the company and interested in it's successes other than the occasional propoganda poster. only interest is in making the already wealthy execs even wealthier. they even killed off the annual X-mas party "to save money in these difficult times" while they pay out tens and tens of millions to the execs/board. even the meager "ice cream social" turned into a few peolpe walking around the floor with an ice chest handing out popcicles... the people at the core of the company's success struggle during these bad economic times (low wages/no raises/hadly noticable raises) while working for one of the wealthiest/most profitable companies in the world. (over 5 billion PROFIT)

What suggestions do you have for management?

remember that the people that work for you are human beings and not robots. give a little something back to those that ensure the growth of the company; reward your people when the company succeeds. people that are invested in a company's success will work harder to achieve that and grow to love it. posters about team work don't make someone proud to work somewhere, feeling appreciated and like you are truely part of something bigger do. winning hearts and minds leads to dedication

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

if you are younger; go work at the Olive Garden. you can make more in the food service industry and probably score a free food. if you are older and experienced; be prepared to be underwhelmed

JPMorgan Chase Review by Branch Manager in Fresno, CA on

What do you like about working at JPMorgan Chase?

It is a great Co. to work for however I come from WAMU that was purchased or taken over by JPMorgan Chase. WAMU needed some work and with the slow conversion form WAMU to Chase it seems to be steady. Soon we will be fully converted over and things should be much more improved.

What don't you like about working at JPMorgan Chase?

It's a great company. The only frustrating thing is that it is in a conversion stage in CA. from WAMU to Chase. some people are lost. Can't give you a true complete answer today. However one area I can is in the Branch Manager bonus potential. The Branch Manager bonus has been changed from a monthly incentive opportunity with WAMU to now a year end incentive with Chase

What suggestions do you have for management?

Get rid of the California Sr. Management or Train them better in adjusting to a merger. The Sr. Management in CA seems to take shared info delivered to them from Chase and are twisting it around and communicating it in a confusing manner the entire CA operation. No t only twisting info but adding to it or changing it a bit, especially in Central CA. District Managers need to take a quick leadership class in being a Change Agent and delivery of information. They seem to be in a panic and do not represent themselves or area professionally. Mainly in the Fresno, CA area.

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

Be positive about an opportunity. Right now it can be a good thing to get in while it's in a change state but it can also be very frustrating especially with Sr. Management lost in there duties. Over all if you get in. It's a job and can turn out to be the best thing you ever had. Good Luck

Working at JP Morgan Chase is not great, but it's not terrible. It's certainly a lot different than my last job at Aren Agopian, LCC (small start-up). 02.28.12
I think if a review is to hold water, it should not have any grammatical or spelling errors. 07.06.10

What do you like about working at JPMorgan Chase?

I worked with a set of skilled and culturally diverse professionals from all over the planet, in a dynamic, fast paced, challenging and state of the art (technological) environment in which I learned a great deal in terms of communicating effectively from a business perspective (using all the tools at my disposal to do so), coping with a myriad of competing problems, priorities and projects as well as the value of planning, team work and achieving the set objectives, resulting in win-win situations for the employees, the bank and our customers.

What don't you like about working at JPMorgan Chase?

As a consultant, no visibility, little recognition, few options to become an employee and grow within the organization. Sometimes, a fly by the seat of your pants type attitude and perhaps too many things going on at once for people to really focus. There were times I wondered how people managed.

What suggestions do you have for management?

Consider all resources at their disposal, whether full time or part time, regardless of location in terms of the value added to the business prior to terminating people. Require more stringent standards in terms of documentations. Yes, it costs, and is time consuming and things change, but it has to be factored into things specially when there is a lot of turn over. No offense. Just my two cents.

What do you like about working at JPMorgan Chase?

My position at Chase Card Services provided a diverse work environment that allowed me to strategically influence the growth and profitability of the company. I appreciate that they acknowledge and reward accomplishments, as when I was given the honor of becoming employee of the year in 2005.

What don't you like about working at JPMorgan Chase?

Shortly after Chase purchased Washington Mutual, they made a business decision to close the card services division and lay off of thousands of individuals, including myself. I do appreciate that they chose me as part of the transition team, keeping me employed until the very end and rewarded me with a generous severance package.

What suggestions do you have for management?

Continue to encourage associates at all levels within the company to identify process enhancements and reward their performance accordingly.

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

I have found that my success with Chase was founded upon my ability to identify areas for improvement within and outside of my department and by making the appropriate changes in the process, resulting in measurable improvement. Show them that your objective is to make the company more profitable and more reliable while maintaining their high standards of honesty and integrity.

JPMorgan Chase Review by Customer Service Representative on

What do you like about working at JPMorgan Chase?

I worked on weekends through college. There was always work during breaks from school and full time during summer. The people were nice to work with and I loved my job. My brother and I got hired the same time. I wore a scarf on my head and the manager told my brother that if anyone says anything to me negatively or hurts me in any way, that that person would be gone. They have a no discrimination rule and that the place should be an enjoyable and comfortable place to work in.

What don't you like about working at JPMorgan Chase?

I worked there as a temp for a year and a half and was never hired. I knew that their benefits were great, but I was not eligible for it. Sometimes they would hire people to do the same job I did, with the same hours, but as employees. These people got better salaries and benefits. When it was time for the company to relocate, the temps went first. I would have went with them, even as a temp.

What suggestions do you have for management?

After a certain time period, temps should be eligible to be hired by the company if they show satisfactory work.

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

It is a good company to be yourself in. Very comfortable work area. My interview was great and fair.

"Strong, successful company, but considerable bureaucracy when it comes to promotions and raises"

JPMorgan Chase Review by Technical Officer in Addison, TX on

3.20

What do you like about working at JPMorgan Chase?

Strong and stable company with a variety of departments and services. Managing multiple projects with shifting priorities leads to a challenging, but often personally rewarding environment.

What don't you like about working at JPMorgan Chase?

Considerable amount of guidelines and bureaucracy involved with promotions and raises, particularly when transferring between departments. My salary is 65 to 75% of that of my colleagues, though I am consistently ranked in the top 25% my peers.

What suggestions do you have for management?

Promote more from within and loosen restrictions on pay percentage increases to retain top talent. Individuals performing like duties should be paid accordingly.

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

Outside hires are brought in at very competitive salaries and this is a great company to build experience and gain exposure to a variety of software and financial applications. Overall, I enjoy the work I do and have a sense that my direct management recognizes my accomplishments.

"JPMorgan Chase is a great company to work for."

JPMorgan Chase Review by Vice President in Denver, CO on

4.30

What do you like about working at JPMorgan Chase?

I like the strength and longevity JPMorgan Chase has to offer clients and employees, a financial company over 200 years old still paving the way in the banking, lending and credit card industry.

What don't you like about working at JPMorgan Chase?

Sometimes JPMorgan Chase can be too big for its britches, meaning: you could end up talking to multiple departments before getting an answer. The main decision makers are in a different state, country or time zone sometimes causing customer complaint resolution to be delayed.

What suggestions do you have for management?

A recommendation to management would be more reward and recognition, some real talent gets lost in a company so big.

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

My advice for someone applying to Chase Bank would be to come early, dress professional, make eye contact, be prepared with questions for the recruiter and the hiring manager. If you dont know an answer, say so dont make up a number.

"Good learning experience that helped me mature as a professional"

JPMorgan Chase Review by Financial Services Representative on

3.20

What do you like about working at JPMorgan Chase?

I liked working with clients face to face on a daily basis as well as managing others to ensure theire success and create a great team enviornment

What don't you like about working at JPMorgan Chase?

The main issue in the banking industry is the lack of results based compensation. You cannot earn more money within the same bank after which increases turnover and reduces the quality of service available to clients

What suggestions do you have for management?

Keep your successful employees and treat them equally which was not the case at all. You can't optimize production and customer satisfaction without retaining your quality employees due to lack of proper compensation

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

It was not a complicated interview process. Be yoursef, know what your worth, and make sure you ask a lot of questions with regards to upward mobility and be honest when expressing your goals.

What do you like about working at JPMorgan Chase?

The comradery

What don't you like about working at JPMorgan Chase?

Every day we had to complete off time reports for when we were off the phones. If the reasons for absence wasnt approved by management then it was counted as an occurance. Three occurances & you were fired. We were forced to work on days when there were snow blizzards only to have to fight our way to our respective homes & try to avoid getting into accidents. I exhibited signs of an impending cardiac arrest. Instead of immediately transporting me to the hospital the nurse gave me Pepto Bismal. I was only transported to the hospital after my insistence.

What suggestions do you have for management?

Look after your employees. Dont treat them like dirt as without them you wouldnt have a job. Remember where you came from!

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

Personally I would never work for a bank as the only thing that matters to them is money. They could care less about you the employee!

"Non exempt and forced to work overtime without pay"

JPMorgan Chase Review by Senior Retail Underwriter in Tempe, AZ on

1.80

What do you like about working at JPMorgan Chase?

It was fine until the WAMU management group came in and took over to run their factory, where they didn't care if 25-45% of the loans were declined as long as the underwriters were "touching" 10 loans per day

What don't you like about working at JPMorgan Chase?

Reprimanded for taking too much time in communicating with LO's to structure the loan for an approval. Quanity is what the want- not quality, not customer service...

What suggestions do you have for management?

Replace the upper management team from WAMU-WAMU got into trouble with this same group... Chase Manhattan Management needs to take over the mortgage division before they are forced to re-live the past of a company they bought out.

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

If you are an ethical underwriter who values the customer (LO's and their sources) and who will not sign a loan that you do not believe in, you won't be happy here.
