"If you want to be miserable and frustrated, work for Hilton Hotels Corporation"

What do you like about working at Hilton Worldwide?
I worked with some very nice and decent people at Hilton Hotels Corporation. I had one boss in particular who took an active interest in my career, and took great pains to help me achieve career goals. The reduced room rates were ok, but not great.
What don't you like about working at Hilton Worldwide?
The politics. The lack of growth opportunities. Though I had one boss during my years there who really tried to help me, the majority of my bosses were perfectly happy to let me wallow in the same position, doing the exact same thing for year after year. The oppressive and unhappy atmosphere of the corporate office. The pay scale that was far below what you could make at another company (and far below the level of work expected).
What suggestions do you have for management?
Hire Leaders, not Managers. Too many of the people in management positions were unable to inspire their teams to follow them. Stop lying. Stop breaking the law.
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
Don't believe anything they tell you. If you want to succeed at Hilton, work on your sycophant skills.

What do you like about working at Hilton Worldwide?
I love the history that the Hilton Chicago holds, it is truly a Chicago landmark and a city within itself. Also, there are tons of departments that make the hotel run smoothly, and being in the position I am in I have to work with everyone. They are all very good people.
What don't you like about working at Hilton Worldwide?
It is a bit of a tease to work there because it's so luxurious, you sometimes wish you were not a worker but simply a guest. I do get satisfaction though out of making each and every guests' experience there the best they could have ever imagined. If my guests or consumers are not happy, it doesn't make me happy.
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
Be yourself. It is a lot of work but working at such a highly regarded hotel, you cannot ask for anything more. This place is amazing!

What do you like about working at Hilton Worldwide?
My Job and the clients tgat I assist. The fact that this property is also a Iconnic Proprty full of History and memories. And the multi culture blend that is in the staff. People I work with.
What don't you like about working at Hilton Worldwide?
That fact that it is no longer a flag hotel.It is privately owend and therefore they change the policies & proedures every day. There is no consistency and Also a lot of outstanding debts from renovation not paid. That has generated many news artivles and bad publicity causing clients to be scared of bookibg events.

What do you like about working at Hilton Worldwide?
The cafeteria was very good. Some of my co-workers were nice.
What don't you like about working at Hilton Worldwide?
Everything. The compensation was way below industry standard. Opportunities for career advancement were blocked at every turn. Senior management could care less about employees, and was only concerned with maximizing the profit of investors (I left Hilton before it was bought out). Incompetent employees were generally tolerated; it was nearly impossible to get fired for being a poor worker.
What suggestions do you have for management?
Stop lying to your employees. Treat your employees like you would want to be treated.

Don't do it. You'll hate working for Hilton.

What do you like about working at Hilton Worldwide?
What I liked about the Hilton Long Beach was the new challenged it presented to me in customer service and administrative support.
What don't you like about working at Hilton Worldwide?
What I didn't like about the Hilton Long Beach was there was no room for growth and the leadership roles were lacking.
What suggestions do you have for management?
My suggestions for management is to be more supportive and communicative. Educating your peers for success along with excellent communication is the best way to cultivate a healthy work environment.

When interviewing at this company make sure to present yourself professionally, but at the same time be yourself.

What do you like about working at Hilton Worldwide?
Ownership with Merv Griffin made it fun and unpredicable. Having Hilton headquarters next door pushed you to be on your game at the same time. Really honed your skills.
What don't you like about working at Hilton Worldwide?
We had some higher than average expectations from guests that sometimes could not be accommodated. We built an image that was great, but sometimes not that attainable for some individual travelers.
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
Need to be on your game at this property. If you dont like pressure, do not apply. Play your role the best that you can, so you can get involved with some one of a kind events.

What do you like about working at Hilton Worldwide?
Before everything was outsourced it was a great company, using great technology, inovative problem solving and highly adaptive to the changing needs of the customers.
What don't you like about working at Hilton Worldwide?
Outsourced vendors lack expertise. Everything takes twice as long to complete, and no one really cares if it's done right. Costs went up while quality went down.
What suggestions do you have for management?
Learn from your mistakes. Bring back the people who love the hospitality business, and loose the vendors that will only say "yes" to every request, but can't deliver quality.

There are some really great people in the hospitality business, as well as some great people in the back office / admin / HQ.

Compensation for I.T. jobs is about 20% market average

Good luck in your job search once The Blackstone Group is done with the reorganization.

I'm really not sure anyone will have the opportunity to interview with Hilton Reservations and CUstomer Care -- unless it is in Manila Philipines.

It give me the oportunity of been a part of the opening team and allow ,e to create and implemenet standards, menus , training etc.

Stronger leadership from my imidiate supervisor with a better direction as of were to take the department.

Clear directions, better communication not only with in the department but with other senior management .

Overall is a good company to work for , they have some great senior managers and they have acomplish great succes under the leadership of the current general manager.

I enjoy the hospitality business. It’s like an extended family.
What don't you like about working at Hilton Worldwide?
I truly enjoyed the business, a large hotel so when business was booming we were very busy. I guess what I would that being a 24hour x365day operation I at times would be called off hours and weekends, but that is the nature of the hospitality business.
