What don't you like about working at Fluor?
They have no loyalty whatsoever to their employees. They treat employees as means to an end, and employees in turn treat them as a means to an end. It took me a while to figure this out. You will learn this quickly the first time you are laid off, i.e., when they tell you that they have some "magical list" of all employees currently on LOA (leave of absence) and they'll call you back to work as jobs become available, and then you find out much later that no such list exists. Also: if you are on LOA and they lose a contract that's already been staffed, you are out of luck: they will move those existing employees onto other projects, which makes your chances of being rehired even more remote.
What suggestions do you have for management?
1. Your employees are an INVESTMENT. When they are laid off, provide some formal means of letting them stay in touch with you so they can be rehired. Employees aren't loyal to your company, because they know that they're expendable. I finally realized why everyone jumped ship before a project was completed, i.e., they had probably already been laid off before and knew that once you're out the door, you are off Fluor's radar and on your own. 2. Get rid of all the dead wood at your company. There are way too many employees who are perfectly content with "business as usual" and have no desire to do more than they have to in order to get by. Every time I wanted to do MORE than I was required to do, I was treated as if I were trying to make everyone look bad. If you want "better, faster, smarter" you need to encourage and reward "better, faster, smarter."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
Do not come across as a "wave maker" or a maverick. There is a lot of dead wood there, and they like their status quo.
"It will be very useful when the top management listen to it."

What don't you like about working at Fluor?
Employment job security is dictated by individual supervisor's buddy system. No matter how good you are in engineering with knowledge and talents, you job security is dictated by personal influence. They layoff so many direct employee while keeping contract employee without explanation.
What suggestions do you have for management?
Top management should look into the matter of fairness of judgement and hear from the employee leaving company to find any misconduct by supervisor's personal influence against company interest. I was rated very very goo in previous project but was laid off in next project while there are incapable contract employees a lot.
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
My big question is the justification of laying off direct employees while keeping contract employees.
"Beneficial to new interviewees."

I also made lifelong friends there.I like that my job environment is very casual . My immediate manager is a good guy and doesn’t hesitate to showcase your successes. My coworkers are almost all fun and great to work with. I met three of my closest friends at this job and I still get to hang out with them almost every day.

What don't you like about working at Fluor?
After returning from an audit assignment to Australia I was assigned to back to back audits to Saudi Arabia and Canada. I asked to have another Senior take one assignment so I could be home with family. My travel was over 60% the highest in our department. This was due to the company wanting the best on their international audits. Two other Seniors where unassigned at that time but I was told no other Seniors were available for the audits.
What suggestions do you have for management?
To consider the balance of staff assignments.

What do you like about working at Fluor?
Every project is different, the same process but new items on every one of them.
What don't you like about working at Fluor?
Nothing I can think of other than the field makes the money and the office is support staff. Once they figure that out things go along smoothly.
What suggestions do you have for management?
Keep going and don't forget about the old hands that got you where you are today. Experience is tough to come by and needs to weighted againest all aspects of a project. I know that you have replaced a lot of experienced players for less expensive young talent. Old guys have already made the mistakes before and tend not to repeat the same ones again.

The work was exciting, and the people were great. I had the opportunity to learn new systems for the company as well as the clients.
What don't you like about working at Fluor?
There is a hiearchy of management that seems invisible when dealing with reports and financial projects that need tracking. Decisions made but not justifications to project managers which makes it difficult to manage the programs.
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
Ask any and all questions you have about the position you are applying for in order to get a better idea of your workload.

What don't you like about working at Fluor?
This company, or at least the portion of the company I worked for, is very clannish. Promotions were not necessarily given according to merit or capabilities. It is more not what you know, but who you know. My experience was also, that management did not stand behind their personnel.
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
Just be be yourself, let them do as much of the talking as possible, the people in that do the hiring like to hear themselves talk. Brush up on your spanish, as this division of the company is well over 80% hispanic.
