What do you like about working at First Data?
Lots of flexible time, ability to make your own schedule and working relationships with the banks. Discount Rate determination was fair, offered us the ability to meet and beat rates as well as waive many fees.
What don't you like about working at First Data?
Expecations are very high in a bad economy. Never recognized how the competion was beating us. They wanted merchants to pay for every piece of equipment. Requesting a personal guarantee and the credit officers often did not approve valid accounts. Difficult offering services to non traditional processers.
What suggestions do you have for management?
Management above regional needs to recognize a executives needs. The purchase of First Data by KKR and going private was a wrong move for First Data. The need the ability to see beyond money and see the sales force as valid workers whom are the ones who made money for the organization.

What do you like about working at First Data?
personal relationship with the client. Their Client Education Department is very impressive. Trainers are Excellent, documentation, web training is second to none. very very impressive and professional
What don't you like about working at First Data?
Management was complacent, I wasn't able to get time with my trainers in order to do my work and management was unable to support my request for more help. The infrastructure changed while employed, and my role was dependent on one person's vision. He left the department, and my responsibilities went with him. My new manager didn't know my role.
What suggestions do you have for management?
Better structure so that everyone knows what the visionary position is defined and will continue with restructure.
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
public speaking, Microsoft applications, Adobe Frame, Be prepared to sell yourself and accomplishments at all times.

What don't you like about working at First Data?
Horrible working environment and awful Management. Specially in the Monterrey Park, CA and Columbus, GA sites. Management has no concept of how unfair they treat their employees, or maybe they do and just don't care.
What suggestions do you have for management?
Learn to treat people fairly and with respect.

Don't see this company as a place for a career. If you can, avoid this company. But if you take the job, get experience and move to a better company with better management and opportunities

What do you like about working at First Data?
You are given an opertunity to advance based on your capability and proven work record.
What don't you like about working at First Data?
Most managers gives you space to work and not micro manage. They show confidence in the people the have working on the job.
What suggestions do you have for management?
I would say mostly for new managers, be more open minded to the cultural mix which gives the workplace the kind of flavor it has.

Try to get some knowledge about the processing industry if you don't already have such, be calm and feel confident during your interview.

The resources, there are currently 25,000 employees.
What don't you like about working at First Data?
The fact that there are 25,000 employees, example, I grew a department from 1.6 million in annual revenue to 23 million in the course of 4 years. However, when the company is earning 11 billion in a year that growth doesn't seem so impressive.
What suggestions do you have for management?
Seek frist to understand than to be understood.

What do you like about working at First Data?
I got to meet a lot of people
What don't you like about working at First Data?
I did not like to work inside, on the phone all day.
What suggestions do you have for management?
I think if they update the leads they have in their storage account executives would be able to close a lot more business, they have leads 3 to 5 years old. lot of times those businesses don't even exist or have changed ownership at least once, twice in some cases. Then, they expect Account Executives to make miracles.
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
Yes, they should clarify up front about their leads, otherwise they'll go nowhere.

What do you like about working at First Data?
Comp plan was great! Was able to take that opportunity and make it in to high sales.
What don't you like about working at First Data?
At the end of my time there the comp plan changed and so did my manager. I was selling a bank alliance that had no loactions in the state of Illinois or Wisconsin.
What suggestions do you have for management?
Keep reps selling the region that they live and work in.
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
Good comoany but I think when leasing equipment there should be more options.

What do you like about working at First Data?
What I liked about working at the company was the relaxed atmosphere and knowing that my customers trusted me with their cash flow.
What don't you like about working at First Data?
What I didn't like about working at the company was there was no rotation. You always stayed on the same team.
What suggestions do you have for management?
My suggestion for manangement would be to consider changing individuals around to different teams to break up the monotony.
