What don't you like about working at Fidelity Investments?

They treat you as a number not a person not caring what you have personally or want. They add responsibility after responsibility without any increase in pay and they don't promote based on performance but on sucking up. Also they micro manage even the best employees and don't listen to ideas or suggestions to help customers and the workplace itself.

What suggestions do you have for management?

Increase pay equal to what other similar firms are paying. Listen to your employees and if someone is a great employee promote them or at least show some appreciation. Also, the advice they give is neither timely nor useful they treat their customers as numbers not individuals and they push products based solely on profit even if it is the wrong product I know this is a business but at least try to help people who are trusting you with their life savings.

"Scary at best"

What do you like about working at Fidelity Investments?

People on your team are great. Constantly changing phone call assistance with customers. You really have to know your stuff to survive and cope when call volume increases.

What don't you like about working at Fidelity Investments?

Very "who you know" organization, NOT what you know, to get ahead or promoted. Very discouraging environment in that respect. NO accountability in this department.

What suggestions do you have for management?

Ask managers for justification on their rejections/promotions when they are involved in promoting employees from within.

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

Network like crazy! Get to know as many people above you as possible. It is the ONLY way to get promoted and/or save your job if things go south, like the economy. This survival technique is your first priority if you choose to work for Fidelity Investments. I know this a "normal" skill in most roganizations, but Fidelity takes this to an extreme level!

Fidelity Investments Review by Several roles in Covington, KY on

What do you like about working at Fidelity Investments?

Fidelity may provide the best training in the financial service industry.

What don't you like about working at Fidelity Investments?

Fidelity does not promote a great work / life balance.

What suggestions do you have for management?

Listen and learn from your employees. You have a wonderful resources there. Don't give in to the temptation of quick fixes. Foster organic grrowth from within.

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

Understand the role for which you are interviewing as best you can. There is a lot of opportunity at Fidelity, but it does not come to you right away. Unfortunately that opportunity is a selling point to potential applicants and many find themselves disappointed when it doesn't materialize.

"Was a great place to work, now is no longer a good place to build a career. No loyalty to long term employees."

Fidelity Investments Review by Director, Technology Risk in Merrimack, NH on

3.60

What do you like about working at Fidelity Investments?

Treated like a professional, respected for my experience and, at lone time, a great place to work and build a career. Great benefits.

What don't you like about working at Fidelity Investments?

The culture and direction changed. The began to lay off the senior staff that had made it what it was. Experience no longer valued.

What suggestions do you have for management?

Rebuild the company and again, value technology as a building block of foundation and direction of the company.

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

It is no longer a company to be employed long term. Plan to be employed there for no longer than 10 years. Technology is no longer as valued as it once was.

I worked for Fidelity for 25yrs. It's too bad that it took me this long to find out that they could care less about your life or the customers. All they care about is pushing products no matter if it's right or wrong for the client. I know it's the only way you get paid.. I have gone to a full service house and it's the best thing I ever did. You have a balance in life and you are your own person.,.. If you can don't wait as long as I did, get out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and Ned could care less about you. 02.04.11

What do you like about working at Fidelity Investments?

The people I worked with excluding management.

What don't you like about working at Fidelity Investments?

They treat the phone reps poorly and motivation is done by threatening you with your job or poor reviews by your manager. If you are not in the top 3 then you might as well be in the middlle of the pack you get the same rasises and just as much grief as the guys on the bottom.

What suggestions do you have for management?

Stand up for your reps and let the those above you know when new policies are going to make life much worse for the phone reps.

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

Use catchy jargon and phrases that apply to customer service. They want you to be very competitive and someone who sounds like they know what they are doing.

Fidelity Investments Review by Internal & Customer Communications in Boston, MA on

What do you like about working at Fidelity Investments?

It is an excellent company with bright people and challenging work. It is a large organization and offers a wonderful opportunity to move around and try different jobs within the umbrella of the same company.

What don't you like about working at Fidelity Investments?

Fidelity is a company the believes in constant improvement, the Japanese theory of Kaizen. While I believe that constant improvement is fantastic, sometimes constant change can disrupt an organization and prevent a focused work environment.

What suggestions do you have for management?

The focus needs to remain on customers and keep the highest levels of service in mind when managing change.

What do you like about working at Fidelity Investments?

The people were great and it comes from a strong culture of respect for each other, hard workers, and good hiring. The work could be hard and demanding at times, but there was fun also

What don't you like about working at Fidelity Investments?

There was nothing about Fidelity I didn't like, unfortunately it was a 50 mile commute one way for me (they moved a few years after I started). I left to help out a small non profit that I had personal reasons to want to help grow.

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

Be prepared, understand Fidelity has a long proud history. They are conservative in nature in business. Use specific examples of your success and apply it to the position you are interviewing.

They do not have the job positions available that would attract me to work for them again.

Management was great, even as an intern the VP of my department took the time to meet with me to see how my experiences within the company were.

It was a great experience and showed me what it was like to work for a large corporation. It also gave me a lot of experience with network security and showed me how many people are trying to hack into applications.

There was a lot of bureaucracy and sometimes in order to complete simple tasks, you had to go through a lot of people in order to do it.

What suggestions do you have for management?

They are doing a great job.

What do you like about working at Fidelity Investments?

I was very happy working with clients. It was a great company because they were always on the cutting edge in technology. They were one of the first companies to have e-mail.

What don't you like about working at Fidelity Investments?

I can't say anything negative about that company. I would go back there if I didn't have to get my licenses all over again to sell stocks.

What suggestions do you have for management?

It has been awhile since I worked there. The only thing that could have been improved upon was communication between managers and staff.
