"Realize that I needed a career change"
Eli Lilly and Co. Review by Senior Engineer in Carolina, PR on
What do you like about working at Eli Lilly and Co.?
Compensation package
What don't you like about working at Eli Lilly and Co.?
Direct supervisors does not devise a clear career path, specially if you could become a professional challenge later in their career. This includes HR. Performance evaluation program is not based in meeting your goals rather in the appreciation of what your supervisor think you should have done different. Mentoring was non existent. Bureaucracy dominates the decision making process instead of empowering employees to pursue the best solution possible for the issues. Too many people to do the same job. Everybody knew who was the under performer but nobody wanted to take action, confront and solve the issue through the channels.
What suggestions do you have for management?
Management by walking. Leave their desks and go to the floor. Listen to employees, respect their opinions and diversity. Enforce confidentiality for sensitive issues.
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
If you like politics, backstabbing while leaving a blood trail in your career path, you should consider working for Eli Lilly-PR

What do you like about working at Eli Lilly and Co.?
People that are not involved in any Human resources or management positions. The people that really work not those that claim they do.
What don't you like about working at Eli Lilly and Co.?
They are dishonest and without integrity! They stole my 401K retirement matching funds which amounted to > $45000. I was "advised" or forced to accept their voluntary exit program "VEP" that is actually an involuntary exit program that Human resources devised for Lilly management to silently lay-off those they appraise as unworthy to work for the glorious Eli Lilly and Co.
What suggestions do you have for management?
Beware, you will answer for your corrupt, deceptive and despicable practices on the last day!
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
Beware of Human Resources and their illusory claims of "concern for the employee." This is a hidden ruse to acquire your naive trust of them. In reality HR is just another Judas, "behind the scenes" proponent for management that will do anything to defend managements corrupt devices at your expense.

My colleagues

The fact that a good idea needs to be estimated 400K times and by the time it is approved, there is no more the need for it
What suggestions do you have for management?
Look around you ! There are tons of ways of working out to reach your goal : you do not have to reinvent the wheel every time!
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
Dress up sharply, never look like you have no idea what they are talking about ( most of the times they do not know either ), act like what you have always wanted was to work for them

What do you like about working at Eli Lilly and Co.?
High level of company's ethical standards, strong team and responsibility from day 1.
What don't you like about working at Eli Lilly and Co.?
Vague professional growth opportunities (based on analysis of earlier MBA employee's career tracks), low level of involvment in international activity (unlike most other regions, the russian unit was almost separated from the rest of the global company, with low chances of gaining experience in other geographies).
What suggestions do you have for management?
Increase cooperation with other regions: to take advantage of obvious synergies a global company like Lilly can have and to better meet the employee's desire for collaboration and global exposure.
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
Explore the russian pharma industry before making the final decision: it is in many ways different from that of the US and Europe.

What do you like about working at Eli Lilly and Co.?
I worked for Eliassen Group. The learning experience at the time (2001) was one that helped me as my career progressed after Eliassen. The company's belief and work ethic was one that I have chosen to continue to use in my success thus far.

What do you like about working at Eli Lilly and Co.?
Nothing at Lilly is worth liking. It is a vanilla organization where they despise uniqueness.

Everything beginning with their homogeneous thinking. They reward silent zombies. Stepford wives is a beginning at what it is like to work there.

They should all quit. They would never survive in a real job. Pack up the tent and save civilization.
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
Do yourself and everyone you know a favor and don't interview here. There are plenty of other places to work.
