What do you like about working at Chevron?
It's a dangerous job. Where blame is important. The schedules are unrealistic and you are on call 24/7 and not paid for it. If you make a mistake you will be investigated and blamed and Chevron will be exonerated. Engineers rule at CPL. Operations people are the lowest form of life in Chevron culture. Stay away from operations and you may be ok. Oh, by the way it is easy to get fired - watch out!
What don't you like about working at Chevron?
Dangerous, high pressure, no future, everything is monitored your work truck records everything and talks to you when it thinks you do wrong. Everything is documented, if you onerlook something - it's your ass! But you will never do anything right. The management must keep control of you at all cost. If you talk back to the boss you're fired! And don't expect to get weekends off.
What suggestions do you have for management?
I would add more people. Provide training so people can be safe. I would end managements corruption and either make the union ethical or dump them all together. I would end the company culture that non engineer types and non management people are the scum of the earth.
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
The future is for young engineers. If your not an engineer, go someplace else and don't take your time run! The probationary period is 1 full year. My father died when I was less than 6 months with Chevron, I when out of town to his funeral anyway after C Hebron told me I could NOT go. I got in trouble and had to beg for my job.

What do you like about working at Chevron?
one of my best friend mr Osar Toscanny which is business consult for district 12 handle over 100 station good control and audit system too.
What don't you like about working at Chevron?
when hugh layoff happened beacuse they loss good honest employees and it costs more to replace them and stree management which the whale system break dowen beacuse of the low quality for the accounting system and internal auditing
What suggestions do you have for management?
work depented on what you add to the team not what you can stell from the company Many scandles for upper management team and as result good peoples get lost in between transaction I hope someone from outside auitied the inventroy and check their perfromance
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
make sure you know the management stress steps they adapted beacuse some unskills or uneducated manager can caus death to the corpation employees without paying any attention.

What do you like about working at Chevron?
The academic and hands-on experience that I gained. The challenge or learning something new asap and being able to apply it to meet crucial deadlines.
What don't you like about working at Chevron?
That my scientific knowledge was limited so much. I wish that I was placed on an alternative energy team so that I could constantly learn and provide new ideas and perspectives.
What suggestions do you have for management?
Management had some problems misunderstanding the science they were managing, and I'd advise them to schedule a meeting once a week for their subordinates to explain what they did, how they did it, and why it was important to do so.
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
The main tip I would give would be to advise somebody not to be afraid to constantly submit new ideas that may better the labs, and that even as a new employee, they can provide an important perspective that may otherwise be missing.

What do you like about working at Chevron?
with lots of training and hard work I was able to get out of the Tape Library and become a systems Analyst.
What don't you like about working at Chevron?
There were times when the male management would stop my release for a new position, and later apologize telling me they made a mistake (he thought I hadn't been there long enough). Nepotism was obvious where managers sons would get hired, husband and wife teams in mangement etc. The CEO gave himself 5 million dollar raise after they laid off all the employees in the Chevron Chemical.
What suggestions do you have for management?
I saw where the company had to pay a multi million dollar law suit for discriminating against women right after I left the company in 1994. I hope things are better now. Management should tell the truth, quit paying the top executives so much money and laying off employees who have worked hard just because they make more money.

Many thing like age restriction special women which more the time misuse their judgement and put wrong evaluation for good employee over four years as good employee and ended up layoff

yes make sure to communicate will with management team otherwise you don't have place there and use your mind not the company guid same as true to build relationship with the team because they love to work as team.

What do you like about working at Chevron?
Cleanliness and newness of buildings. Nothing much else I can think of.
What don't you like about working at Chevron?
Chevron has this mentality of giving their employees the lowest level of anything. If the person accepts, then they don't have to work any harder.
What suggestions do you have for management?
They do not practice what they preach, i.e. Operational Excellence, Stop Program, 10 Tenet's of Operation is all lip service to appease the investor's and San Ramon.
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
This is my personal testimony and of those who are too afraid to convey it. I took a hit for you. Please learn from my mistakes. You will regret hiring on with Chevron. Stay Away! Work for Chevron's competitors

HAVE MORE COMPASSION FOR YOUR EMPLOYEES, SPECIALLY THE ONES THAT HAVE STAYED WITH THE COMPANY FOR LONG TIME.

What do you like about working at Chevron?
The employees, the work and the freedom to re-organized the entire office to make it run more efficiently. They hated to have to lay me off. We were a great match. Worked longer hours then I was paid, to get the job completed.
What don't you like about working at Chevron?
I could not get hired full time because of the economy, bad timing. Worked there 6 months.
What suggestions do you have for management?
No suggestions it was all good.

Do your job, don't be late and sometimes you need to go a little further than what is expected of you to gain their respect.

What do you like about working at Chevron?
I was hired at Chevron shortly after college and was placed there through an agency. I left simply because I was offered a better opportunity.
What don't you like about working at Chevron?
I wished they would have hired me on a permanent, corporate payroll basis with all of the available benefits and this was not offered to me until I was offered a better opportunity.

What do you like about working at Chevron?
It definitely was a great experience working in Chevron USA, considering the abundant information resource and intellegent coworkers. Unformanately some positions were taken less important as others at tough economic time and were cut.
