What do you like about working at Aflac?
it started out where they did not bother you but in the past two years they really bother reps daily and ask for predictions of sales which is impossible to do. They are greedy and want to knopw where you are but claim your an independant rep. Too many meetings they want you to attend at our cost
What don't you like about working at Aflac?
no benefits, dont take taxes out, no health insurance, they bug you too much. They really pressure you a lot. not worth taking a management position, it costs you too much money and you end up giving your businees away to new people who dont want to work so RSC's can get their numbers.
What suggestions do you have for management?
Back off on bugging the reps and the DSC's are quitting like crazy, you need to reevaluate their role.
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
anyone can get hired by Aflac, they dont care who they hire anymore.

What do you like about working at Aflac?
Offering businesses an opportunity to expand their employee benefit package at no cost. It also offered me flexibility with my schedule which I needed when my children were little.
What don't you like about working at Aflac?
The job is 100% commission without any benefits.
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
Aflac will appoint any licensed insurance agent because they only pay commission on sold policies. I would tell anyone considering Aflac that it is not easy to earn enough money to live on because of the competition in the industry. You must have a good work ethic, willing to step into aggressive cold calling and business generation activity.

What do you like about working at Aflac?
I enjoyed the process of learning about sales from the ground up. The support from upper management . The potential for advancement with in the company. The consistently earning money from residual.
What don't you like about working at Aflac?
I did not like that AFLAC was all commission. As the market was starting to get saturated with Alfac agents, leaving little to no opportunities for new accounts this effected my ability to grow a region and earn on a consistent basis . They also did not provide insurence or a benefits.
What suggestions do you have for management?
To provide monetary support in the start up and up keep on a district office.
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
You must love to sell and be a self starter or your success rate will be small to nothing.

| I found this review to be helpful. It seemed to present to me a less emotional view then the 2 above it (1.3.10 and 09.10.09). It would seem that it would be beneficial to AFLAC to change their policy (no pun intended) regarding their agents/management and monetary compensations. To the average Jo or Jolene looking for a job in todays market, this would be a big incentive in encouraging interest to join the "AFLAC Family". And for the record I do not nor have I or any family members worked for AFLAC. Neither do I have any prior chips on my shoulder concerning this company. I am however partial to the AFLAC commercial with the "Na!" "Na!" "Na!" speaking goat! ;) | 03.15.11 |
"AFLAC is a great way to break into outside sales and gain solid experience."
Aflac Review by District Coordinator in Mount Pleasant, MI on
What do you like about working at Aflac?
The opportunity for uncapped earning potential as the position was commission based.
What don't you like about working at Aflac?
Lack of training with experience and successful agents in the field.
What suggestions do you have for management?
Trying to allow new agents to spend more 1-on-1 time with seasoned agents as their success and knowledge is better than any week long training seminar in a classroom.
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
Perhaps looking into a 2nd job as it may alleviate some of the stress of having to make money immediately. This may allow a new agent to focus on learning the job and building a base of clients through networking and cold calling rather than giving up 4-6 weeks in due to lack of income.

| regarding my prior comment, i am lol at myself, upon reading the position of the ALFAC associate (Independent Sales Agent/District Coordinatior in Training) explains why this agent wrote what he/she did. Good job. | 03.15.11 |
| Just a guess...this was written by an AFLAC in management. Still it is well written and comes across as sincere. I can certainly understand their frustration under the surface. | 03.15.11 |
"It is a product that I fully believe in, but sales is not for me."
Aflac Review by Benefits Coordinator in Rancho Cucamonga, CA on
What do you like about working at Aflac?
Providing customer service to my accounts. Assisting owners, presidents and CEO's in saving money and protecting their employees. Assisting in filing claims to help a family out financially. Meeting new people and learning new things.
What don't you like about working at Aflac?
The sales aspect of Aflac. Being under pressure to sell something to someone that can not afford it or to a company that is not interested in helping themselves or their employees.
What suggestions do you have for management?
Slow down the flow of new agents, the market is flooded. Back off of some of these companies who are tired of hearing from the sales reps on a weekly basis.
"It is a feast or famine industry."
Aflac Review by Aflac Employee in Marietta, GA on
What do you like about working at Aflac?
Brand name recognition.
What don't you like about working at Aflac?
The sales force is ENTIRELY too large. Agent's are on top of each other. Very difficult to gain new business, because employers are tired of having their doors beaten down to talk to.
What suggestions do you have for management?
Quit putting some many restrictions on how and what size accounts the agent can call on themselves. Do a better job of training. Quit treating a 1099 individual like an employee. Be able to adapt to situations more quickly. Have the ability to mirror what works for your competitor.
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
You can be just a number to the company at times.
"I enjoyed this company a lot, the people are friendly and the work is fun."
Aflac Review by Independent Insurance Agent on
What do you like about working at Aflac?
The people, the opportunity to be your own business owner.
What don't you like about working at Aflac?
Training is unorganized and haphazard at times, long in house meetings, frequent changes (sometimes a method of sales is okay when another is not).
What suggestions do you have for management?
Have a better set plan for the training of new agents and keep flexibility in mind for the employees. This job is supposed to give flexibility to a point since we are 1099 employees
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
Know there is a lot of memorization regarding scripts and plans.

Reputable company; Great products and services; Strong media presence/brand name
What don't you like about working at Aflac?
Lack of support/resources; lack of training; expensive marketing tools/equipment; misleading disclousre of start-up costs
What suggestions do you have for management?
Improve training of new agents; Disclose the actual full amount of start-up costs; Screen managers often to ensure that they are not only out for personal gain, but to help educate and prepare their trainees
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
This a position that requires a large amount of overhead expenses that you should be prepared to handle.
"Great flexible schedule! Great opprotunity for a top producer"
Aflac Review by Aflac Employee on
What do you like about working at Aflac?
Flexibility, compensation, ability to have control over my salary and the free trips!
What don't you like about working at Aflac?
Lack of a benefits package, little training and ongoing support, few meetings. lack of company culture and fun!
What suggestions do you have for management?
Higher office standards. Agents should not be allowed to work twice a year and still keep their job.
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
Project yourself as a self starter. If you arent, you should really consider other employment. To be sucessful you really have to be tenacious.
"I would only work at Aflac if it was the last job available."
Aflac Review by Independent Agent in Grayson, GA on
What do you like about working at Aflac?
Flexibility
What don't you like about working at Aflac?
I was treated like dirt by prospects. Most companies are sick and tired of seeing an Aflac rep come by.
What suggestions do you have for management?
Hire fewer, higher quality reps.
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
please talk to an ex-Aflac agent before joining. They will tell you that Aflac only has 5% penetration into the market. What they don't tell you is that the other 93% have been contacted many, many times. Only 2% of companies out there have not heard or seen an Aflac rep at some point.
