"I worked there for enough time to understand I made a mistake. It is a joke and fell bad for the residents. You know it is a bad place to work when the cooks leave as well as the workers. So there are 800 nationwide? Run from this and don't look back."

"While Brookdale is a large established company, its processes and technology are not as current as expected. There is little evidence of long term planning and associates are not valued."

"If you are an ethical person you do not want to work at this company. You are taught to sell a high standard of care but the residents do not receive what they are promised. They try to keep their sales department in the dark so that they don’t realize how things are really run. Lots of secrets and deceit. There is no loyalty. You are expected to be available to work 24-7 but only on their terms, not to help you. They have no respect for you, you’re treated like a number, not a person."

"Brookdale Senior Living is a great company to work for; management is great and they focus on delivering their mission to enrich the lives of those they serve. My first day with Brookdale was May 8, 2006 when I was just 17 years old and beginning to ponder about a plan for my career goals after high school. The leadership team(s) at Brookdale opened up many doors of opportunities that made my decisions easier. As a result, a high school job turned into a career and a passion; so much more than I ever anticipated. With each year came more welcomed challenges and opportunities to meet and interact with residents and colleagues, learn from experienced professionals, and develop my skills. Throughout all these years, not only did I grow as an individual working alongside everyone, but I also had the privilege to enrich the lives of residents, associates, colleagues and friends at Brookdale. I am grateful for every experience so for this reason Brookdale will always have a place in my heart."

"For-profit not people. No soap no linens no towels. Perennially short-staffed. Managers treat workers like criminals. No thanks or support just write-ups. Stressed environment."

"I worked for Brookdale for over two years. They had two CEOs and the pressure of their stock not preforming was felt by every employee. In the 2 years I worked for the company I had 9 different supervisors. And was the longest tenured manager in one community at 3 months."

"I am a current caregiver. We work hard everyday. We had a wonderful HWD that was just fired by Corporate. Its a shane she was. She supported us, loved the residents and families and was attempting to make this a homelike environment where we all looked forward to coming to work. We are paid just above min wage and could make more at Mcdonalds. Her passion was contagious. Rumor has it that she was a liability. How is she a liability? Because she cared to much? The new ED Is toxic. Mgmt turn over is crazy. The new activities does not train us on dementia. The now fired hwd a.d current rcc did the training. Rumor on the floor is majority of caregivers are looking for new jobs because they let the hwd go. She was the best. The ratings have decreased since hwd was let go. If she was still here, i would rate much higher."

"I worked for Brookdale for 6 years. This is a toxic environment where they hire friends. The only way to get ahead here is being in the clique. I was bullied and sexually harassed. It was reported and nothing was done. So, after a year of this boys' club mentality, I gave my 30-day notice. On day 3 they asked me to leave. Don`t work for this company. It`s all about money."
