Jake Gibb is not only a two-time Olympian but also a two-time cancer survivor. Last year, professional volleyball player Jake Gibbs went through the toughest year of his life. After a false positive drug test, Gibbs was diagnosed with testicular cancer around the same time his wife was pregnant.
Luckily, doctors caught Gibb’s cancer early enough to remove the cancer through surgery without intrusive chemotherapy.
That was “the biggest relief and joy of my life to that point,” he said in his official video More Than Gold, The Jake Gibb Story. "It opened up my world…the Olympics…a career…I feel like I'm the luckiest guy in the world.”
This, coupled with the birth of his first son in August of 2011 was a real game changer for Gibb, according to the video.
After an emotional and rough year, Gibb and US beach volleyball partner Sean Rosenthal are still in it to win the gold!
