How Incriminating is Your Twitter Account? There’s an App for That!

Posted March 27, 2013

To help you keep your online identity squeaky clean, a new Twitter application created by developers at the University of Hanover in Germany has your back.

It’s called FireMe! And it sends out an alert to your account as soon as it detects a Tweet that your boss would frown upon.

“Tracking messages is done through an algorithm that scans for telltale phrases indication someone had tweeted something negative about an employer,” according to RT news.

Incriminating tweets are categorized into:

  1. Haters
  2. Horrible bosses
  3. Sexual Intercourses
  4. Potential Killers

Despite all the horror stories about employees who were fired because of inappropriate social media posts, it turns out that FireMe has already proved itself useful.

Digital Trends reported that 4,304 FireMe! tweets were sent out in the last three weeks. That’s nuts!  The app can also go back up to 100 of your last weeks and spit out a FireMeter score of how often you mentioned your job negatively.

CareerBliss community, your slanderous one-liners about how much you hate your work or boss are simply just not worth jeopardizing your job or future opportunities (no matter how witty!).
