The casino was founded in 1951 by Benny Binion, and was made world famous for hosting the annual World Series of Poker event. Binion's was one of the first casinos to offer comps to gamblers playing lower limits. They also began the trend of allowing higher than normal table limits.

Binion's Horseshoe Casino has been through various ownership changes through the years. After being founded by Mr. Binion, the hotel was then sold to a local Las Vegas gambler by the name of Joe Brown. The Binion family took over the casino once again after purchasing it back from Mr. Brown. Eventually the casino was purchased by Harrahs Entertainment, then sold to MTR Gaming Group, and ultimately ended up in the hands of TLC Casino Enterprises.
