Bennigan's Overview
Bennigan's is a casual restaurant with an Irish pub theme that was founded in 1976. It is under the direction of Bennigan's Franchising Company, LLC, which currently operates 31 restaurants in 11 states. Over 100 locations across 14 countries and 15 territories outside the United States were closed following the bankruptcy of parent-company Metromedia Restaurant Group. The franchise was bought and re-opened in 2008 by Atalaya Capital Management.
Bennigan's central offices are located in Dallas, Texas. It has faced stiff competition from a number of now larger chains, including Chili's and T.G.I. Friday's. Management is currently seeking innovative ways to rebuild customer loyalty. Techniques include location remodeling and menu design. Until the mid-1980s, Bennigan's led the casual dining market with items that many still remember, such as the Monte Cristo sandwich, Turkey O'toole, and the original Death by Chocolate dessert.
Bennigan's Job Information
Bennigan's currently has fewer than 5,000 employees working in both franchise locations and the central headquarters. Revenues fell significantly following owner bankruptcy. It is now open under a new owner, but the future of Bennigan's is unknown. Hourly employees and managers alike report high morale, and salaried employees at the home office receive competitive salaries and benefits.
