"I would allow all employees to take training classes to elevate themselves and in turn the company would benefit."

"Because I was part time and that was the only positions available, this would be the only thing I did not like about the company, that I was not full time."

"realize that it is an authoritarian organization, get good experience, pay your bills, and don't expect consistency or competency is leaders."

"Unrealistic mandates from national leadership, lack of listening to the people who really do the jobs so that the tasks make sense and help affliated customers."

"Bring back the culture of customer service and that ARC is a service organization."

"Applicants at the American Red Cross should understand that their service will be for the better good of the community. They should also understand that as a non-profit organization, their compensation will be less than it is for a comparable position in the private sector."

"The growth in the organization was extremely slow. This was frustrating for me because I was looking to grow in my career. I understand it was due to the stagnant economy and not to any fault of the management."

"The lack of assertiveness, there is also an excessive amount of travel."

"Management should unionize, this would put to rest the us-vs-them attitude."

"I loved the donors and the work I did each and every day, it was a total fulfillment for me to know that each day I was saving lives."

"Make sure that you have a good support system if you have children or any health problems, this job is physically demanding and you work very long hours sometimes 15-16 hour days with few hours of turnaround."

What don't you like about working at American Red Cross?

"They don't seem to care that you have a life outside of that job, the manager actually told people if they didn't like it to go find work elsewhere, sometimes I think they simply fill a position with a body."

"Listen to your employees, they are the ones that go out there regardless of the weather and or hours and they are the front line of blood collections."

"Very organized and stable place to work and learn new information about blood bank, and also place highly regulated and controlled to avoid any human errors."
