"While Allstate Insurance is a great place to work for many, the opportunities to continue to improve and develop are slim in the realm of Information Technology. The supervisors are great, the pay is decent, and the workplace really is laid back and they do appreciate you as employees, however they simply cannot create enough jobs to keep developing their IT force and most of the promotions received are only done so through waiting on another employee to retire or quit."
"I worked for Allstate company located in Chicago, IL since Dec 2012 - till date."
"Worked there for a couple of years and definitely in a dept. that had preferential treatment and definite favorites. I had worked under 6 managers in a couple of years in which TWO, had voluntarily stepped down because of a disagreement over ostensible, hypocritical work practices. Work/Life balance was suitable, benefits were sub par in industry along with pay, which was definitely on the lower end especially for claims adjusting. Heavy corporate culture. Office was ALWAYS dirty."
"In my 3+ years at ADS, I've been promoted twice which is not hard to accomplish within that environment. That being said, I appreciate the upward mobility, however there isn't a Policy and Procedure manual for any department within company. This leads to confusion and dissension among the Business Units and exposes the staff's inability to expertly do their job. I would recommend full expertise in your field should you find it appealing to seek employment there."
"Great place to work. The benefits are great. Work hard and you will go far. There are schools in 17 different states so you can transfer or get promoted any where. Best of luck to you."
"This position is more of an entry level job. There are no advancement opportunities or a path to advancement. It is a great company and the systems, training and process are excellent."
"I have worked at Allstate since 2012. I have found that Technology and Operations team is rather slow in adopting / adjusting to change. As an insurance company it is very conservative in its choices, and decisions are made extremely slowly. This is not a place for someone who is used to a fast paced work environment."
"Allstate is a good company to work for."
"Allstate is a good company to work for. Have worked for them for about 15 plus years."
"I worked with Allstate Insurance. Almost 2 years which I find them super. My project is over so I am in between jobs."
"Allstate is a stodgy company. Only a few favorites get promotions based on who they know. Most employee talent is wasted. Management is mainly made up of frightened people who are only looking out for themselves. The company talks as if they care about employees, but their actions do not conform. Every year there are more take aways from benefits, opportunities, etc."
"Great place to work. Advancement based on individual achievements. Easy to transfer within the company to different positions as well as locations."
"Allstate has a reputation of caring for their staff based on a long term commitment to their staff and ethical behaviour. Hower, the current administaration is out to protect itself at whatever cost and loyaly, competence or potential is trumped by finaccial consideration. No one is safe except the inner circle until a board change occurs."
"Allstate cares about their employees. It is a fast paced working environment with corporate culture. I enjoy working with all the different professionals and teams at Allstate."
